Enjoy a deeply nourishing yin yoga immersion of 90 minutes with Alexi Pallprat from The International Yoga Teacher’s Association. This workshop will focus on the energetic pathways in the body that correspond with the Heart & Small Intestine which in Eastern Medicine (TCM) corresponds with the energy of Summer!
Each season brings about new changes in our lives as well as in nature. The summer season represents the part of the cycle where everything ripens. The heat of fire can purify or burn away old habits creating new intentions for passions, liveliness and joyful living.
In this Yin Yoga class we will stimulate the Heart and Small intestine meridians, which both relate to circulation and digestion as well as any inflammation in the body or excess heat. We will practice a combination of backbends, forward bends, twists and wrist/forearm stretches. In our minds and heart space we’ll invite the practice of loving kindness to invoke feelings of joy & peaceful.
In a Yin Yoga practice we draw upon energetic principles outlined in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The poses we practice will stimulate the meridian lines that run through the body making it a practice of self-acupressure.
In summertime the connection is with the Heart/Small intestine meridian pair and the Fire Element. Fire energizes but also consumes, so it’s crucial to keep energy in balance. This expansive energy of Fire encourages us to embrace living life to its fullest.

In our busy, sometimes frenetic lives, we can often forget to slow down, pause and relax. This workshop is your invitation to slow down, take a deep breath and relax deeply. Join Gala (yoga/meditation teacher and gong player) to honour this sacred time in the year when we transition from Summer to Autumn – right after autumnal equinox.
In ancient times the autumnal equinox was a period of gathering to celebrate the harvest, to enjoy the fruits planted in spring and tended to throughout summer. It also marked a period of cooler, shorter days, and a time to prepare for the winter months by building immunity and nourishing oneself. As the work of harvest slows, we transition towards a more introspective and quiet place – appropriate for our approach into Winter.
Gala will guide you through a short Restorative yoga practice – long held and supportive poses that place your body into positions which encourage true deep state relaxation. We will use soothing breathing techniques while in these poses, then continue with blissful Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep): guided meditation done laying down that brings us into a deeper state of Self awareness. Throughout the session you will hear various chimes to enhance the deep meditative state. Closing with around 20 – 25 minutes healing Gong and Chimes sound-bath to take in what you need and let go of what you do not. Warm ceremonial cacao to open your heart will be served at the end.
Gala Nistor is Yoga and meditation teacher, gong player and Reiki Master/Teacher. She studied yoga and meditation in Asia in traditional Indian Sivananda school and at present teaches Hatha yoga with Kundalini elements, Yin and Restorative Yoga. Galina is an avid gong player and towards the end of her class she uses a 32” symphonic gong for final relaxation and meditation and some other instruments as well, such as koshi chimes and crystal bowl.
