Pilates for Every body
Pilates for Men & Women
Our Pilates sessions are for men, women and teen’s. Thoughtfully designed to support you through every stage of life. With a focus on strength, mobility, and balance, we incorporate resistance training and weights to help maintain bone density, and combat sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss).
The flagship benefits of Pilates are improving core strength, pelvic floor and correcting muscle imbalances within the body. For those with tendencies towards a dominant side or old injuries, Pilates is particularly helpful to remediate these anomalies.
Our speciality at Studio High Street is our emphasis on correct alignment, form and technique throughout every exercise, within every session. This ensures safety foremost and longterm joint health so that tou can progress your strength, fitness and mobility in a longterm sustainable way.
Led by experienced instructors who understand the changing needs of ageing, our sessions offer a supportive, empowering space to move with confidence, build physical endurance and feel your best – inside and out.
Benefits of Women’s, Men’s & Teen’s Pilates Lifestyle Program include:
- Optimise your movement potential – by including focus on the small muscles within the body as well as large muscles
- Improve sleep – mindful exercise coordinating movements with a specific breathing pattern (it is not necessarily ‘exhale for effort’ and stems from Joseph Pilates Original Method ‘Contrology’)
- Maintain muscle mass – Using the Reformer as a Strength Training Device (different spring settings), and we also use free weights in certain sessions. (Also check out our popular guided weights training on the timetable)
- Improved posture – using a lot of unilateral training combined with a degree of instability to create lasting neuromuscular connections. (Note that Pilates reformer is the global standard worldwide for athletes to prevent injuries and for injury rehab)
- Body awareness – joint alignment, proper form and technique are prioritised so you are not reinfcorcing dysfunctional movement patterms
- Deep core strength and pelvic floor strength
- Stimulate lymphatic system and cardiovascular system- big focus on working through the calves (the ‘2nd heart’ because they act as a venous pump, contracting to push blood from the lower legs back up towards the chest against gravity
- Mental health improves – further to the benefit of improved sleep, your mental health flourishes with our sessions. The mindful movement is like a meditation – you’re not thinking about anything else except for being present within the moment. There is also a down to earth, kind community here at the studio, so it’s like a little oasis in your weekly routine.
